Biography: Dr. Sherry Weaver
Dr. Weaver is a native Georgian. She worked her way through veterinary school at the University of Georgia and Georgia Tech by working in clinics around Atlanta. In 1992, she graduated from the University of Georgia of Veterinary Medicine where she was inducted into the Phi Zeta honor society. After graduation, Dr. Weaver moved to Woodstock to join a practice as an associate veterinarian.
After practicing for eight years, she opened her own practice in 2000 with just three employees. In 2003, she purchased land and built Animal Hospital of Towne Lake, a state of the art facility that now houses four doctors and thirty support staff. The new facility includes ultrasound and digital x-ray services; human-level healthcare; and luxury boarding, bathing, and grooming.
Community Involvement
- Donates behind-the-scenes by performing surgeries, supplying materials and medications to spay-neuter programs at the local shelter without recognition.
- Works with local rescue organizations. Provided free medical care and placement for nine very sick Katrina Pets.
- Accepts spay and neuter coupons from the county humane society to promote pet care for low-income families.
- Speaks to classes of all ages about pet health and care at local elementary and high schools.
- Opens the hospital for tours several times a year for special interest groups like children’s scout groups and special school programs.
- Has year-to-date spent over thirty thousand dollars to help special needs pets like Chow/Lab/ Shepherd mix Howie, who is featured in an episode during Season Three of Dog Whisperer
- Writes monthly articles as a contributing editor for our local news magazine “The Townelaker”.
