The new season of the Emmy-nominated Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan starts Friday, September 7th at 8P EST/PST!
In the September 7th premiere episode, Cesar is called in to restore the peace at a "not-so-dog-friendly" apartment complex. When the residents of a North Hollywood apartment building moved in they assumed their pets would get along-they were wrong. Will Cesar be able to give these dogs an attitude makeover? Then, meet the Diaz's and their 3 canine troublemakers. Despite owning multiple businesses, the Diaz's can't seem to multi-task when it comes to controlling their dogs. Will Cesar be able to pacify this unruly mob?
September 14th, meet Cotton, an American Eskimo that has taken the watchdog role too far. Cotton attacks doors and windows whenever people pass by and causes carpool chaos when kids go to school. Then meet Ricky, a Shiba Inu that has become overprotective of playmate Jordan, a Corgi. And finally meet Duke and Lila, two belligerent bulldogs that have taken on the mantra "kill or be killed." Will Cesar be able to rid these dogs of their bad attitudes?
And then, on September 21st, when Bricil Madero moved in with her soldier sister on base at Camp Pendleton, she never imagined that her miniature pinscher Kiko would bully everyone in the house. Binkey, a young Chihuahua mix born without her two front legs, won’t have anything to do the wheelchair her owners devised. Writer and director Mike White had no problems controlling the set of his new film Year of the Dog, but at home French bulldogs Tootsie and Ginger are out of control. Will Cesar be able to call the right shots, or is this an inevitable case of life imitating art?

In Memoriam –
Rexford "Rex" Rajah, IV 2004-2007
The staff of Cesar Millan, Inc. this month mourns the passing of a beloved member of our extended family.
Sired by American Kennel Club champion Hilltop “Bubba” Majesty, the happy-go-lucky purebred Yellow Labrador we would eventually come to know as Rex was first placed into Cesar's care under the name Buster Brown. At less than one year old, his energy had proven too high for the family that had initially fostered him, and he was given over to a rescue organization for adoption before finally making his way to the Dog Psychology Center. Not long after, Dog Whisperer Executive Producer Jim Milio received a personal phone call from Cesar at the DPC.
"Jim," he said simply, "I have found the perfect dog for your family."

Dear Dr. Weaver,
I was writing to ask about the right time to neuter a Lab male. When he got his annual exam and shots, the vet said to leave him unneutered until he was two years old as "large-boned dogs get cancer if they are neutered before then." I had never heard of this before and have always been a proponent of early neutering, but since this has come up, I am now unsure what to do. Is there any truth to this? What is the best time to neuter/spay a dog?
Thanks,
Eileen
I would start by saying that there are many different vets with as many different experiences and opinions. In these articles, I try to express my personal experiences as well as current research. No research is perfect, and no experience is absolute. In reality, there are very few definite "right" answers. The best answer to most questions is to find a vet who you trust to tell you the whole story and make your decision based on that information.
Early neutering is a controversial topic. A very few uncontrolled studies have shown a link with early neuters (before 14 months of age) and...

I have a 2 year-old Pomeranian who is afraid of everything and so worried about things falling on him, although I've had him since he was about one year old and nothing has ever fallen on him. He even approaches his food dish as if a snake will attack at any minute. Drinking water is the same; he is always prepared to run away. I have tried to show calm and assertive direction and a matter-of-fact attitude. Is there anything more I can do?
- Alice Jackson
Dear Alice,
This sounds like a self-esteem problem, so you must approach it delicately. We want to challenge the dog physically and mentally with things like obstacle courses, busy environments, and any situation in which the dog can get feedback from other, more confident dogs. We have a case right now that will be in season four which is very similar. The dog in this case’s name is Luna, and she is afraid of everything. Even the wind scares her; she comes into a room and sees “ghosts.” Every part of her is on hyper alert – her nose, her eyes, her ears...

It’s contest time yet again, ladies, gentlemen, and canine companions, and seminar season is right around the corner!
With Cesar setting off on his cross-country pilgrimage, all discussion at the CMI office revolves around the what, where, and how of the venues and dates, so it should come as no surprise that the answers to this month’s newsletter contest can all be found on the seminar information page.
Beware of trick questions! The Quizmaster at CMI had a bit of fun with this one.

Next month is Adopt-a-Dog Month! Join us here for the latest info on Cesar’s newest book release, as well as the usual round of juicy tidbits from resident vet Dr. Sherry Weaver, and answers to your questions from the man himself, Cesar Millan!
For now, here’s a stunning success story from Diane Merrill (& Co.!) of Magnolia Springs, AL that is nothing short of miraculous.
Dear Cesar and Team,
We are faithful followers of your program. We have a very large German shepherd named Elvis who belonged to my sister-in-law. He was shot in the head when he was very young (we don’t know who did it), and lost an eye, then tried to make it home and was hit by a car. He was thought dead when he was taken to the vet. But he finally recovered, and when he went home to my sister-in-law’s he had all sorts of issues, as you can imagine. He was dangerous. She offered him to us. My husband and I live in the country, and have horses, chickens that run loose on the property, and a bull mastiff mix, a cat, and 5 small grandchildren.
I wish I were eloquent enough to tell you how much your program has meant to us, and more importantly to our dogs and all the other critters, especially the chickens! Elvis was full of anxiety, fear, aggression, obsessions - almost every problem you have addressed...
