Finding a Dog with the Right Energy |
Choosing a dog is a decision that should be made with care and deliberation. A dog is not a toy or a clothing accessory; it's a living creature. The decision to adopt a dog should be treated with the same careful attention that you would use if you were deciding where to live or whether or not to get married and to have children.
Too often, a dog is adopted because it is "cute" or "fashionable," rather than based on the merits of its behavior and energy levels. In these situations, the dog may be returned to the rescue shelter, kennel, or pet store, and each return is a black mark on that dog's...

It's a fundamental part of Cesar's philosophy – "Dogs need jobs." Some dogs are police officers. Some dogs deliver the mail. Some dogs herd sheep.

Dog Whisperer Sneak Peek: Cesar Helps Grant a Wish! |
On October 5th, Cesar visits Abel, who adopted small, fearful Luna because she reminded him of himself as an insecure child. Faced with the most extreme fear case of his career, Cesar will need a good deal of time to bring this dog out of her shell. Next Cesar visits a K-9 Detection business in Miami. The six dogs on the team work to their full potential separately, but together as a pack, they become wildly unstable.
Tune in on October 12th and visit the Arizona ranch where the Gilberts want to help feral dog Reggie by having her spayed. Cesar steps in to try and catch her without scaring her away forever. Then, Cesar motivates lazy bull terrier Mugsy to go on a walk and helps interior design partners with their ferocious dogs.
Then meet Michelle Crowley on October 19th. After watching Dog Whisperer, she was well on her way to correcting her dogs' issues, but, at 17, she was diagnosed with Lymphoma. Treatments left Michelle in a weak state; the dogs took over. Now, after a call to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, she is getting her wish – a consultation with Cesar at the Dog Psychology Center! Also in this episode, Cesar meets sweet, playful Jack Russell Willie who transformed into an ankle-biting terror after Jake the cat passed away, and pit bull/chow mix Zena, who has an extreme fear of common household appliances, especially the dreaded stove.
On October 26th, Dog Whisperer revisits the Oberman household, where in 2005 Cesar helped restore order, allowing Violet to be free of the bullying behavior of packmate Hudson -- until she passed away. Two years later, the Obermans' new dog is giving Hudson a taste of his own medicine. Next, Cesar Millan joins Animal Control Officer Clark Brown on his shift. Together, they drive through the streets of the San Fernando Valley to rescue strays and make house calls.

Dear Dr. Weaver,
I have a 3 year-old rescued long haired German shepherd named Elsie. At her annual check-up 6 months ago, the vet recommended teeth cleaning for her. I opted for a non-anesthesia cleaning which my vet opposed. I want to do what's best for my dog. In your opinion, is putting my dog under anesthesia really necessary to get the teeth clean?

We don't go political on our blog so this isn't about world peace. Some of you are saying "well, thank God for that," and some of you are saying, "wimps!!!" No matter what your persuasion, this blog is about inner peace, something I was talking about with my daughter on...
